About comotivate
Somewhere in the world, there’s someone just like you and they’re trying to better themselves or their environment, just like you. They’re your ‘perfect buddy’ and you might just find them here.
It just feels better when goals are reached together
Whether they’re referred to as ‘goals’ or not, when we achieve things in life that we consider important, it sure feels great. But reaching a goal with someone else and having a hand in their achievement feels even better. comotivate allows everyone to enjoy the feeling of collaborative achievement.
Social networking made more useful
Although it is in BETA, comotivate is supposed to be more of a ‘useful’ networking site than a social networking site. It exists to positively change your physical and mental state by leveraging all that’s amazing about the human condition – our ability and willingness to collaborate.
comotivate uses a powerful database to match user profiles so that Team Buddies resemble each other as closely as possible. This gives you the confidence to know that if your buddy can reach their goal, you can reach yours too. It also removes a few excuses you may have relied upon in the past!
comotivate allows you to:
- Use a range of tools on the site to track the progress of your goal, share video, images and encouragement to help each other along the way.
- Be selective over who you buddy with, how you’re matched and how long your goal runs.
- Complete your goal and celebrate your success with a certificate of achievement.
- Build a private home page of personal information relating to the goals you’ve met.
Useful…that’s a good word

“comotivate seems rather serious”
Damn right! If you register but don’t contribute, you’ll be ‘benched’. comotivate is not really the place to casually browse and hold meaningless chats with strangers. You won’t like it much if you enjoy showing off to the world either. But it’s not hard to see how much fun you could have on comotivate considering you’ll be introduced to people you have loads in common with from the start.
Big is beautiful
Because of the way it works, comotivate will get better as it grows because the chances of you finding a perfect buddy will increase.
Small is beautiful
Unlike other social networks, as the comotivate community expands, your experience of it may well contract but be richer for it because you’ll be collaborating with fewer people you have more in common with.
Let’s get technical
Comotivate has been in BETA since June 2008, but please accept our apologies if things don’t work quite as well as they should. You’ll be warmly thanked for reporting any problems by emailing fixer at comotivate dot com
Lessons from the real world
comotivate is based on a basic human insight: that there is great strength in being united. Although this insight is commonly acknowledged, I had not truly understood it until I heard the remarkable story of a village in north-west England called Ashton Hayes. In January 2006, the thousand or so residents of this otherwise anonymous place decided they would attempt to become the first small community in the UK to become carbon neutral. To me, the incredible thing about their story was the momentum created by the residents sharing ideas, encouraging each other, nurturing the belief in their goal through a sense of collective purpose. In their first year they cut emissions by 20%, but as they continue towards carbon neutral status, the real benefits are being felt within their community. Village life has improved noticeably and the local school is now over-subscribed, where once it was threatened with closure. Ashton Hayes proves the power of collaborative community effort and gives hope that the human race is capable of meeting goals that as individuals we find just too daunting.
Hope
Even beyond the environmental issues we face, the world is pretty screwed up. Rising obesity rates, dysfunctional families, spiraling debt, and chronic levels of problem gambling define our age. For those people who wish to get their life back on track, there is hope to be found in establishing a peer group of like-minded people.
Our motivation
None of us here at comotivate are very 'spiritual' in our beliefs. We just want to help bring about a better world and have fun doing it.
comotivate is dedicated to Andy Forbes who died in the prime of his life on a football field.
